WAPJ

WAPJ is a non-commercial FM radio station in the United States, operated by the Temkin Foundation. The station was first licensed in 1998 and currently operates on 89.9 MHz with a translator in downtown Torrington, Connecticut on 105.1 MHz.
The station offers an eclectic mix of music and spoken word programming targeted for the Torrington area and produced by area volunteers. WAPJ has a close working relationship with WWUH at the University of Hartford, and rebroadcasts WWUH's programming for part of the day.
In serving an increasingly multi-cultural community in the Greater Torrington area, WAPJ's programming includes shows which emphasize Irish, Polish and West Indian culture. In addition, the station features fine bluegrass, country and western, reggae, jazz, oldies, Broadway show tunes, sports (including broadcasts of local high school games) and more. WAPJ's schedule also includes talk shows with topics ranging from pediatric health to books.
