my name is Paula Allen ( www.pollyzoom.com)
I grew up along the banks of the St. Lawrence river.
We had a home across from Wesley Island on the mainland
on breezy pines road. Directly up river from watch Island.
Our view of the channel was perfect with a view of
Wellsley Island and also the Thousand Island Bridge.
I slept with boats softly rolling by in my dreams.
My father was born and raised in Alexandria bay N.Y.
My father and mother died in homes on the river.
sitting here by the beach in St. Petersburg Florida in
the winter, Wellsley Island seems very far away. I have
a few favorite spots near Wellsley Island. One of them
EEL Bay. What a beautiful spot and that was across the
river from where we lived but I use to fish near there.
I was married in Alexandria Bay in the Dutch Reform church
a beautiful old stone church and had my reception on
Wellsley Island at the Thousand Island Club. This is
also a favorite spot of mine. I also love the home
Fineview very much and the grand architecture from the
victorian era. Wellsley Island is one of the most
beautiful places I have ever been on this earth.
It feels just like home to me. Also lets not forget the beautiful Boldt castle and the story of George Boldt and his Castle.
