What's Up (song)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
"What's Up" is a 1993 single by the band 4 Non Blondes, written by lead singer Linda Perry. The song received considerable radio play; it reached number fourteen on the Billboard Hot 100 and went gold, but peaked higher in Europe, reaching number one in Germany and number two in the United Kingdom. It was included on 4 Non Blondes' album Bigger, Better, Faster, More!.
The song was remixed by DJ Miko in 1994 and by the Cover Girls in early 1995.
The song is covered by comedy-rock duo R.O.Y. at live performances. It is also currently being performed by Pink on the UK tour, and the I'm Not Dead Tour in 2006/7, and has been received well by fans.[citation needed]
On VH1's Most Awesomely Bad Songs Ever (compiled with Blender magazine), this song ranked #40. Another VH1 countdown, VH1's 100 Greatest One-hit Wonders, What's Up? ranks #94.
Despite the title, the song does not contain the phrase "what's up", but has "what's goin' on" in the refrain. The title What's Up was used possibly to avoid confusion with Marvin Gaye's song What's Going On.
The song recently gained more attention as a YouTube video surfaced featuring He-Man singing the techno remix (See external links below).
