[edit] WAHS
The Wheaton Area High School sports teams are on a hot streak as the 2006 softball team placed 4th in state tournament play. The 2006 volleyball team also placed 6th in state and the football team made a state run, finishing 2nd in 9-Man Section competition. This winter sports season, the Wheaton-Herman-Norcross Bulletts wrestling team also advanced to the Xcel Energy Center, and the Boys Basketball team is looking tough heading into playoff time. The students of WAHS are eagerly awaiting the spring sports season, as an experienced Warrior Baseball Team has high expectations, and the softball teams looks to follow up their 06 success.
Not to be overlooked, the High School Knowledge Bowl team is having a record season themselves. In four meets, they have taken third place honors twice, second place once, and gave WAHS its first Knowledge Bowl tournament victory (in recent memory), winning the Herman meet by 20 points. After placing second in the Lakes County region meet the Knowledge Bowl team also recieved Wheaton's first ever state tournament berth. On April 17th, the squad will be heading up to Brainerd Minnesota in hopes of capturing some hardware.
