From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Whiplash is an episode in the fictional animated series Beavis and Butt-head. It aired in the fifth season (1994-1995) and is available on DVD as part of The Mike Judge Collection.
[edit] Synopsis
Beavis and Butt-head are watching television when they see a commercial for Attorney Joe Adler, a lawyer specializing in injury claims. Upon hearing the promise of "money just for getting hurt", they plot to create a case of whiplash by causing an "accident" involving their school bus.
As the two prepare for the wreck, Beavis boards the bus while Butt-head rides his bicycle to a point where he knows the bus will travel. In a vain attempt to look up an attractive girl's skirt, he borrows a pencil from the girl, purposely drops it, and gets on the floor of the bus to "pick it up". At this point, Butt-head rides directly in front of the bus, causing the driver to hit him, as well as slam on his brakes, sending Beavis flying to the front of the bus. The driver then steps on Beavis as she gets out to check on Butt-head.
During the next scene, the two are in Adler's office attempting to explain their case. After the attorney rattles off a list of people to sue, the police break down his door and arrest him for fraud. They then interrogate the two, making an even more incompetent practice of their career than Adler did his, and further injuring Beavis by shaking him violently near the neck to prove he does not have whiplash.
[edit] Notes
This is Joe Adler's first of two appearances on the show; in a subsequent episode entitled "Sexual Harassment", the two attempted to sue a classmate for sexually harassing them by giving them erections. This case actually made it to court, but was thrown out by the judge for being ridiculous.
