The VfR Kaiserslautern developed in March 1920 as product of the fusion between the FC Bavaria 1906 Kaiserslautern, which was furnished 1906 as football department to 1893 created MTV Kaiserslautern and starting from 1908 was independent, with the SpVgg. 1910 Kaiserslautern. The SpVgg. 1910 again had resulted to 1910 as emperor-louder football combination 1910 from the fusion of the local associations VfB 1906 (based than FC Revidia 06), FC Barbarossa 08 and FC Viktoria 05.
Supraregional impression the VfR left only by the ascent into the upper league southwest to the season to 1949/50 under the coach Fritz walter, the star of the neighbouring 1. FC Kaiserslautern. Since then the VfR belongs to the lower amateur leagues.
In the season 2006/07 the VfR in the neuntklassigen circle league Kaiserslautern plays.
