Wikipedia:WikiProject Retailing/Listings of former locations
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Many articles about defunct retail chains (and existing retail chains) have listings of prior store locations. The problem is that current articles do not use a standard style for listing such locations. Most articles use a list of locations that are hard to read[1] and clutter up the table of contents with names of states[2]. Some use a collapsable list that solves some problems by hiding the list and applying a format to make it appear minimal[3]. Also, none of these listings that I've found fully satisfies WP:A. This page exists to help reach consensus over how such listings should appear on Wikipedia.
[edit] Example from Dayton's (edit as you see fit please)
This example illustrates a sortable table. The pros is that it's sortable (making it possible to scan for trends) and it doesn't clutter up the table of contents. Also, it is compatible with monobook.css. In addition, since it's a table, it's easily scannable compared to a list.
A slight modification. Such notes should probably not be in a table.
