Wikipedia talk:Wikipedia Signpost/Tools/Spamlist

Why link to the place to spam instead of linking to a "new comment" link on the place to spam to make it easier for the spammer. --GeorgeMoneyTalk Contribs 02:57, 9 May 2006 (UTC)
- It makes it easier for AutoWikiBrowser, which is my bot of choice right now. It handles the "new message" thing by itself. Ral315 (talk) 08:34, 11 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Weekly Signpost
When do you get the weekly Signpost? Also what time do you get it at? FellowWikipedian 21:02, 15 May 2006 (UTC)
- Monday evenings/Tuesday mornings, as your local time zone dictates. Time varies based on week; this week, I got it out at about 2100 UTC Monday evenings; I try to get it out no later than 0300 UTC Tuesday morning. Ral315 (talk) 02:02, 16 May 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Notification?
I'm wondering, is there a way to sign up to receive a simple notification when a new issue is published than getting the whole thing dumped onto my talk page? --Cyde↔Weys 20:20, 6 June 2006 (UTC)
- Your best bet would just be to check every Tuesday around 0400 UTC (I usually finish by then, if not earlier), or put one of the Signpost pages on your watchlist. You could also add Template:Signpost-subscription to your user/talk page; it updates every week. Also, you're on IRC most of the time; I always post in there when it's updated. Right now there are about 6 or 7 things I have to update every week, and I really don't have the sanity to do another one. Ral315 (talk) 22:57, 6 June 2006 (UTC)
- Although you could do something like User talk:Ilyanep/Signpost, so it doesn't mess up your main talk page... Ral315 (talk) 00:30, 7 June 2006 (UTC)
[edit] French version
I added my name for both a French and English version, mostly because I want to improve my French. Hope this is OK. EvocativeIntrigue TALK | EMAIL 23:27, 25 June 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Edition missing
I didn't get the issue for October 9th, and it seems none of the other foreign-languge subscribers did either… Bug, or just a slip of memory? Jon Harald Søby 11:12, 14 October 2006 (UTC)
- Slip of memory. Double edition next week, it would appear. Ral315 (talk) 07:38, 16 October 2006 (UTC)
Still missing *Gives Ral315 a can of Coffee*. Røed 20:15, 27 November 2006 (UTC)
- I should point out also that due to time zone differences and my propensity for late issues, it's Tuesday in most of the world when I finish. I'll get the spamlist stuff out in the morning. Ral315 (talk) 06:33, 28 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Template:Signpost-textonly for other wikis
Is it possible to post the contents of Template:Signpost-textonly to a template on an other wiki. I like the signpost news, but I don't like a big signpost update on my talkpage every week. So, when this template is also available on other wikis I can simple add it to my Dutch userpage and maybe other pages where users like it. JePe 23:38, 9 January 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Strange...
I have been waiting for two weeks now, and it havent delivered yet. Fancy I'm 1 of the 0.00001%!!! BTW I set it to leave it here. Can someone tell me why? --GravityTalk 07:21, 28 January 2007 (UTC)
- The magic of the bot, I guess... I honestly don't know why it skips some users and not others. Ral315 (talk) 05:03, 6 February 2007 (UTC)
I allways get a copy in nl: but the bot missed me on feb 12? Aleichem 12:14, 19 February 2007 (UTC)
- Occasionally I forget to hit the foreign language wikis (by the time I get to foreign languages, it's often 1 or 2 a.m. local time, and I fall asleep before doing so. My apologies; I'll send out a double issue later tonight. Ral315 » 22:12, 19 February 2007 (UTC)
[edit] links in mails
Isn't it possible to add the links to the emails? It'd be more useful than plain text. Waldir 16:13, 6 March 2007 (UTC)
- Links aren't possible as far as I know through the Wikimedia e-mail system. I could include the link as well, but you'd have to copy-and-paste it. Ral315 » 01:06, 7 March 2007 (UTC)
-
- Some email clients (gmail for example) automatically render links even if the email comes in plain text. Therefore, the copy-paste workaround wouldn't be needed. Would you consider adding the links? Waldir 13:48, 13 March 2007 (UTC)

- I understand, you are right. Then I'll consider adding a bug on bugzilla to allow links (html, to be exact) in wikipedia emails. Waldir 22:21, 23 March 2007 (UTC)
