From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Wilson Township, one of thirteen townships in Clinton County, Ohio, United States, is located in the northeast part of the county on the border with Greene and Fayette Counties. In 2000, the population was 581, up from 523 in 1990. The entire township lies in the Virginia Military District. It is named for Amos Wilson, one of the earliest settlers of the county who arrived circa 1796.
The township was erected in 1850 by the Clinton County Commissioners from parts of Union, Richland, and Liberty townships.
It is bordered on the south by Union Township, on the west by Liberty Township, on the north by the Greene County township of Jefferson and the Fayette County township of Jasper, and the east by Richland Township.
The township is governed by a three-member board of trustees, who are elected in November of odd-numbered years to a four-year term beginning on the following January 1. Two are elected in the year after the presidential election and one is elected in the year before it. There is also an elected township clerk, who serves a four-year term beginning on April 1 of the year after the election, which is held in November of the year before the presidential election. Vacancies in the clerkship or on the board of trustees are filled by the remaining trustees.
