The Wine School of Philadelphia is a wine education school based in Pennslyvania.

The school was founded in 2000 by the winemaker Keith Wallace. The school was originally a very small operation and was run in the back room of a small coffeeshop in the Manayunk neighborhood of Philadelphia. The school grew quickly, so that within several years, it now encompasses half a city block. Several important sommeliers, including Andrea Immer, have gone on record praising the wine school.
[edit] Educational Programs
The wine education programs developed & run by the school are run at the university level. The programs begin with a Foundation Certificate, followed by an Intermediate Course and finally, and Advanced Courses. The certificates culminate in the Diplomae Oenotropae with is backed by The American Wine Foundation and a major University, which has not yet been disclosed.
[edit] Organizational Structure
The school changed from being a sole-proprietorship to a not-for-profit corporation in 2006. The original owner, Keith Wallace, is now a board member and the acting president of the school. In the move, Mr. Wallace brought on investment-banker and Wine School graduate Lori Burgess as Vice President and Brian Freedman, a food & wine writer for such publications as the Wine Spectator to become the Director of Wine Education. Other individuals involved at the management level include Pete Mitchell and Frank Cipparone.
