Surely I'm not the only one who sees massive similarity between this comic and the world of darkness?

You're missing out. Anyway, both settings are a modern world with monsters and the unnatural hidden from the masses, and the old guy is a like a hunter. It's not like one copied the other, but it's a very similar setup. Zebra girl could be taking place in the WoD. Kinda. Sorta. They remind me of each other.
