[edit] Summary
This image shows the concepts of series (left) and parallel (right) circuits. In each circuit, there are a 9 V battery and two 500 Ω resistors. In the series circuit, the resistors subtract voltage and the current is equal everywhere. In the parallel circuit, each resistor provides additional conductivity, so the current through each of them is summed and the voltage is equal everywhere. See Series and parallel circuits.
This image is intended to supersede Image:Series and parallel circuits.png. I used Xcircuit, the eps2eps
script from Ghostscript and Inkscape to make it. I used the library liec_dc.lps
for some elements; it is located at [1] and is described there as ‘public-domain’.
