Summary
It is noted that the green portion of the flag was designed to represent the majority Catholic residents of the island, the orange side being the minority Protestant and the white middle part being peace and harmony between them.

The flag of the Republic is Green White & Orange.Not green white & Gold,Green is for nationalist/republicans-not for any religous group.The white is for peace.The orange is for those followers of the house of orange.The colour is a bit of a giveaway.If the flag had anything to do with religion they would have used religous symbols.If in doubt please refer to the French govt of 1848 ,they gave it to Ireland.
