According to § 5 Abs. 1 of the German Copyright law, official works like flags are gemeinfrei (in the public domain). Dieses Bild stellt die Flagge einer deutschen Körperschaft des öffentlichen Rechts dar. Nach § 5 Abs. 1 UrhG (Deutschland) sind amtliche Werke wie Flaggen gemeinfrei ("public domain").
