Hi. Thanks for all the castle articles! The easy way to link to an article on the kings of England/GB/UK (and we have articles on most of them, now) is [[kingname o Loegr]] up to 1603, [[kingname o Prydain Mawr]] up to Queen Anne, then [[kingname o'r Deyrnas Unedig]], for example [[Edward I o Loegr|Edward I]] comes to mind, for some reason :). [golygu] Infoboxes
Hi Okapi, esgusoda i am switching to English. I've noticed you put stubs for a number of animal articles (and country articles too?). I know next to nothing about infoboxes - are they linked to a master template somewhere? It's just that for the animals, "binomial name" should probably be "enw binomial"; for the countries "ffonio côd" should be "côd ffonio/galw". - Fi eto. Taxonomy isn't one of my strong points, but I found this[2] which uses "dosbarthiad" for division, which sounds reasonable, but seems weird above "dosbarth". Also, order=urdd not trefn, and species=rhywogaeth (genus=llwyth I suppose). I'll do a bit of (reversible) mutilation on the template, but I'll save changing name to enw for another day :-) --Bibl 23:50, 2 Aws 2004 (UTC)
- <xtra edit> --I like the idea of central storage of stock (non-wiki)"templates" for things. Standardisation makes things tidier (and easier too). Hi Okapi, I altered the existing infobox and saved at nodyn:dosbarthiad biolegol (planhigyn). Comments very welcome. The usage in articles is identical except for an extra field to put in a <br>'ed list of the species (see eirlys - it's the only one I've changed so far). I'll make another one for (anifail), then, if there aren't any objections, I'll start replacing the existent infoboxes... I don't know whether to put Enw(au) Lladin or Rhywogaeth(au) (species, like in the English Wiki). But if it's in the Nodyn, it won't be a problem to alter whenever. Hwyl, Bibl 11:30, 4 Aws 2004 (UTC)
- Diolch am yr ymateb! You make a very good point. It's not really feasible to make a load of specialised taxoboxes. Maybe a basic table as a Nodyn, then use {{subst:basic_table}} (which I don't know how to apply, since it seems not to work. Is there a Cymraeg fersiwn o "subst"). Or maybe make them modular, with a little template for each of (sub/super)order etc, and just stitch them together as necessary? I'm still learning & playing with tables, so I don't know how it would work.
- You're right that the basic taxobox should have a species level. Eirlys has the same format as Snowdrop now, with a list of species (because"snowdrops" are a genus, hence the list of species). If the article is about a species, perhaps it could give links to other species in the same genus; Article about an order, gives links to other orders in the same class? That sounds a bit too ambitious though. I'll lurk around in the taxonomy project on Wikipedia to try and get some ideas. --Bibl 16:11, 4 Aws 2004 (UTC)

- S'mae. The <br> trick sort of works, but it looks like there's more than one order/ multiple names for the same order. I'm still thrashing away at the code to try and get a modular version working (then there could be however many ranks & sub/super-ranks as anyone could ever need!). I think I'm going to give up for the evening - but I'm enjoying the challenge, so I'll stick with it for a couple more days until I get really fed up. Currently we have started a project on meta.wikipedia to get an article translated in as many wikipedias as possible every week. The article will be about a subject that usually gets rarely translated and has a lot of links to other subjects. Currently we have no-one to translate in your language. Hi, It should be "y gwyddoniadur rhydd" - the point of "the free encyclopedia" is that it's "free as in speech, not as in beer", while "rhad" does have the principal connotation of "cheap"! I've just changed the tagline back.
As for Urban75, I was thinking it was a bit spammish, and doesn't have much apparent connection with Wales, and I don't know who Mike Slocombe is anyway. I wonder if there's a way of expanding it somehow, the en: version is only a little more informative.... -- Arwel 14:23, 9 Ion 2005 (UTC)
