Dan huwa wieħed mill-akbar speċi ta' senġi u nfatti t-tlett speċi f'dan il-ġeneru jissejħu senġijiet ġganti. Dan huwa wkoll senġi fil-periklu ta' estinzjoni u għalkemm għandu firxa akbar mis-senġi ta' taħt dahru dehebi, il-popolazjoni ma tlaħħaqx l-istess densità.
