The International distinctive sign of civil defence according to the first Additional Protocol of 1977 to the Geneva Conventions of 1949
According to the protocol, the sign is defined as "an equilateral blue triangle on an orange ground". This means that the depiction shown here is only an example. For example, it is not required to use a round sign. Similarily, it is only recommended but not required that one of the angles of the triangle be pointed vertically upwards.
