Tenali (తెనాలి) é uma cidade em Guntur,Distrito de Andhra Pradesh, Índia. Ela tem uma população de 149,839 habitantes (censo 2001),e está localizada a 16 milhas ao sul da Cidade de Guntur .Três canais do rio Krishna fluem através de Tenali,fazendo dela uma das maiores produtoras de arroz da região. Tenali possue uma grande ferrovia de junção conectando as rotas de Guntur, Vijayawada e Chennai.

Tenali é conhecida por seu rico legado cultural e literário.Ela já possuiu muitos poetas,atores e educadores famosos. Por caussa da sua contribuição para a literatura,tatro (drama) e educação,é chamada de Paris de Andhra. Tenali contibuiu uma grande parte para a indústria do teatro dramático. Existem alguns artistas comuns que depois mudaram para a indústria de filmes,como Kongara Jaggayya, Gummadi Venkateswara Rao, Sarada and Krishna.Kancherla Palem é a casa de Major Kamma.

The major important villages are Munnangi, Kancherla Palem, Modukuru, Jampani and Eemani. Kancherla Palem is a historical village where famous freedom fighters were born one of them is Chukkapalli Venkata Satyanarayana. Kakumanu's clan, Alapati's clan, Kaki's clan, Veerisetty's can, Ravi's clan, Vadlamudi's clan, Tathireddy's clan, Vishnubotla's clan, Avuthu's clan, Tadiboyina's clan, Doddapaneni's and Challa's clan are the famous families in Tenali. They have donated huge amount of valuable properties to temples and erected several Satras across the city.

You can find a small world here with all communities living in harmony. It has communities like , Brahmins, Reddys,Kammas,Vaishyas, Kapus, Yadavas, Sali, Muslims, Christians etc. People of all communities here are highy educated and politically conscious. There are a good number of famous temples like Kanyaka Parameswari temple, Vaikunthapuram, Patha Shivalayam, Patha Anjaneya swamy gudi, Chitti Anjaneya Swami gudi, Morrispet Shivalayam, Saibaba temple next to over bridge, Appala swamy temple etc. Festivals are celebrated throughout the year.

It is most well known as the hometown of Tenali Ramakrishna (also known as Tenali Rama), the legendary court jester in King Krishnadevaraya's court.

Two famous scientists from Tenali are the late Dr. Y. Nayudamma and Dr. A. V. Rama Rao, Dr.Jandhyala (a famous kidney specialist who worked at CMC Vellore). It is the place where first A.P's printing press Kakumanu Press established and it printed Brahmam Gari Kalagnanam in 1930.

Tenali has all the specialities and is part of the twin cities of Coastal Andhra comprising Guntur, Tenali and Vijayawada. It is located in the junction to Vijayawada and Guntur. The three cities are very near to each other. All major trains stop here and it is one of the most famous business centres on the Chennai - Vijayawada line. It is called a small city by all for its importance. Everybody likes Tenali for its location. All facilities, such as colleges, hospitals and business centres are available in Tenali. A sweet named Jilebi, a pickle named Gongura, all other spicy curries are famous at Tenali. People stop here midway of their journey to taste some of these delicacies. Tenali is probably the only place where hand pumps of S share are used to get drinking water from 30 feet and so on.

People of tenali are very friendly in nature.Tenali is well known for its educational institutions and their standards. Its very green through out the year in and around Tenali. Its just 30 km from Bay of Bengal.People will go for the bath and have fun around the beach regularlly. Its generally hot and humid during summer with temperatures ranging between 32-39 oC. Winters are heavenly between 15-23 oC. Rainy season is worth a watch.

Festivals are celebrated in a very special way. During Sankranti (first festival according tothe English calendar) you can see women coming out of houses to make rangoli outside their houses, Haridasus generating soothing music from Tamburas.
