Welcome to the North Sami Wikipedia!
Finally someone who know Sami has found this place! Maybe you can help me translate the interface from English. I've done some translating, but I'm no native so I don't know if what I've translated is correct. Do you speak Swedish, by the way? Again, very welcome, I hope you're here to stay :) • 辻斬り 19:28, 11 njuk 2005 (UTC)

- I'm sorry, I don't really speak very much Sami. What I'm going to do is I will nominate you to become an administrator (if you want to). • 辻斬り 10:54, 12 njuk 2005 (UTC)
- It's fine with me. But I'm newbie with this thing so I might have many questions for you later. --Skuolfi
- I´m all in favor for her becoming an administrator. So, is there something I could do, like vote for her somewhere? --Biret

Hello, I'm also glad that someone is working on the Sami Wikipedia. My name is Lars Aronsson, I live in Linköping, Sweden, and I speak Swedish, English, German, understand Danish and Norwegian, but unfortunately I don't speak Sami or Finnish. I'm the founder of Project Runeberg (runeberg.org), a volunteer project for digitizing old out-of-copyright books from the Nordic countries. By definition this includes the Sami language (or languages?), but so far we have not had the pleasure of digitizing anything of this kind. I would appreciate any help and suggestions in finding interesting books where the author has been dead for more than 70 years (before 1935). Especially, old books about history, biography, geography, folklore, etc. can be used as source material for Wikipedia articles. In the larger languages, we have digitized whole encyclopedias, for example the Finnish Pieni Tietosanakirja (1925-1928), from which more than 200 articles have been used in the Finnish Wikipedia. But I guess there are no old encyclopedias in Sami, so we will have to start with something less ambitious. If you would like to help, or if you can contact somebody that might want to help, just drop a line (in Swedish, Norwegian or English...) to the editors@runeberg.org. --LA2 09:41, 2 cuoŋ 2005 (UTC)
Hi Skuolfi, I'm sorry for not being very active here lately. I will take care of things here within a couple of days, don't give up :) • 辻斬り 19:52, 6 cuoŋ 2005 (UTC)
Hi Skuolfi, I was going to make a logo for the North Sami Wikipedia. Can you tell me what the translation for "Den Fria Encyklopedin" is? Thanks! --Node ue 05:59, 17 cuoŋ 2005 (UTC)
- Hello! I have thought that too. It would be "Friddja ensyklopediija" or "Almmolaš ensyklopediija". Free is friddja, but I think almmolaš would be better because almmolaš means more like public/general. --Skuolfi
- Hey Node ue! I asked Nohat to make it long ago, but he never had the time, so it'd be amazing if you could do it. Back then I told Nohat to make it "Friddja ensyklopediija", but Skuolfi probably knows better than me what word would be better there. Oh, and make sure you change "Wikipedia" to the Sami form "Wikipediija". Thanks for contributing! • 辻斬り 12:29, 17 cuoŋ 2005 (UTC)

Hello, you are now an administrator. There are instructions on how to use your administrator powers in the administrators' how-to guide on the English Wikipedia. If you have any problems, let me know on my talk page, or leave a note on meta:Requests for permissions. Good luck. Angela 10:52, 5 mies 2005 (UTC)
[ođasmahte] Village pump/Kaffestuga
Hi Skuolfi! Do you have a place at this wiki for general discussions, or are you yet too small to need it? The Swedish version looks like this sv:Wikipedia:Bybrunnen. I posted a question at Wikipedia:Village pump and believed someone would answer quite quuickly, but I suppose it is better you delete that page. / Habj 20:29, 4 golggotmánu 2005 (UTC)

Could you please write a stub http://se.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kur%C3%B3w - just a few sentences based on http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kur%C3%B3w ? Only 2 -5 sentences enough. Please. Pietras1988 09:16, 30 ođđajagimánu 2006 (UTC)
[ođasmahte] Request
Greetings Skuolfi!
Can you please kindly help me create this article - based on the English article. Just a few lines would be sufficient enough and your help would be gratefully appreciated. (I do not know what the correct Sami title should be). Thanks.

[ođasmahte] Sambia and Zámbia
I am adding some interwiki links here, and I got confused by Sambia and Zámbia. Here is one article called Sambia and one called Zámbia, both are in the categories Afrihkká and Riikkat, and both are included in the template:Afrihkká. Are the articles about the same country, or two different (if so what are their English names?). --Jorunn 23:54, 19 guovvamánu 2007 (UTC)
- It is Zámbia not Sambia. Sambia was a mistake 'cause list was traslated from Finnish Wikipedia. --Balva 12:26, 6 njukčamánu 2007 (UTC)
[ođasmahte] Proto Indo European article in North Sami Wikipedia
How is called Proto-Indo-European language in North Sami? Where in North Sami is article about PIE itself, but not Indo-European languages? I can't localize it. It is true that PIE in North Sami is called Indoeurohpálaš Vuođđogiella, or Vuođđoindoeurohpágiella? Which name is used in North Sami? Please correct me if I'm in error, or confirm if I'm correct. I need these infos to make proper link to interwiki PIE article in Italian: http://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/Indoeuropeo For all other languages I succeeded in localizing relevant articles or confirming lack of their existence. Please answer very quickly - Thanks.
- Sorry, but I don't know what PIE is in North Sami. I am not a linguist. It is better ask about it from Ante Aikio. He is a linguist and is a native speaker of North Sami. --Skuolfi 13:22, 6 njukčamánu 2007 (UTC)
-
- Thus I will ask him about PIE term in North Sami. But can you confirm me existence or nonexistence of PIE article in North Sami Wikipedia?
-
-
- Only article about Indo-European languages I found is Indoeurohpálaš gielat but it is same as Indo-European languages. And that "article" is only a list of Indo-European languages in Sami language. So there is no PIE article in North Sami Wikipedia and the article of Indo-European languages is a stub. --Skuolfi 20:24, 6 njukčamánu 2007 (UTC)

- Thank you. Now after comprehensive comparing across Wikipedias I discovered that Italian PIE article has best paradigms, and these ones are exceptionally located in sub-articles.

[ođasmahte] Bureaucrat?
Angela suggested that wikipedia.se should vote on who should be bureaucrats here. Would you consider beeing bureaucrat here? If so we could have a little vote at Wikipedia:Byrokráhtat. --Jorunn 21:58, 16 njukčamánu 2007 (UTC)
- Yes I could consider that if no one else wants to do that. But I don't even handle this administrator thing yet so I am not sure am I good enough to be a bureaucrat... --Skuolfi 22:05, 16 njukčamánu 2007 (UTC)
- I think you would be the best person for it out of all of us. -Yupik 22:08, 16 njukčamánu 2007 (UTC)
- You are handling the administrator tasks in a good way. Beeing a bureaucrat isn't that different, and it will only be on special occasions like when new administrators shall get their administartor rights you will use the bureaucrat tools. Maybe you should be two bureaucrats from the start, then the tasks and the responsebileties will be devided between two, and maybe it will not be so daunting? If anyone else of the administrators wants to be bureaucrat too then that would be fine, please just let us know. --~~
- Ok. I'll do that. And I agree that there should be another bureaucrat too because sometimes I don't have time to do with Wikipedia. --Skuolfi 22:39, 16 njukčamánu 2007 (UTC)
- As I have stated elsewhere, I can back Skuolfi up as a second bureaucrat, although Yupik certainly also would be a good one. My work here is a bit (too) on and off, but I really think it is important to have this infrastructure in place for a (possibly, hopefully, etc.) forthcoming Sámi barnraising campaign. Trondtr 19:43, 18 njukčamánu 2007 (UTC).
- I would second you as the two of you speak and write better Sámi than I do. I'm still thinking of updating Skuolfi's userbox from sme-1 ;) -Yupik 19:55, 18 njukčamánu 2007 (UTC)
