Acting President of the United States

The Acting President of the United States is a person who temporary acts as President, when President cannot carry out his duties, but remained in office. This position was started under the 25th Amendment to the United States Constitution.
The acting President has all Presidential power and duties during the time of his or her term.
To date there have been two acting Presidents. Both were Vice Presidents:
- Vice President George H. W. Bush acted for President Ronald Reagan, when he was under a colonoscopy procedure on July 13, 1985
- Vice President Dick Cheney acted for President George W. Bush, whe he was also under a colonoscopy procedure on June 29, 2002
