Domestication is when human beings take animals and plants to keep, breed, or use in some way. If humans keep animals and plants for a long time, then the humans domesticate the animals and plants. Human first domesticated dogs and sheep. People grow crops, which are plants, to eat and use. People keep some plants for their beauty. Those plants are called ornamental plants or house plants. People keep animals for fun. Those animals are called pets. People use domesticated animals for food, clothing, and work. Those animals are called livestock.
