Kalash
From Simple English Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Kalash (Greek: Καλάς, Nuristani: Kasivo) or Kalasha, are a small ethnic group in Kush region of Pakistan. Kalash are indigenous people and very small minority. There are only about 3,000 to 6,000 Kalash. Kalash people live in three isolated valleys. They claim that they have Greek origin. Kalash have a polytheist religion, while neighbouring peoples are mostly Muslims. Many Muslims would like to convert Kalash people, but the Kalash defend their faith. Actually, if a Kalash person converts to Islam, that person is kicked out from Kalash society. This is the reason why Kalash religion and ethnicity still exist and this is the only way to make it exist also in the future.
