Ludwigsburg is a about 12 km northern city in the center of Baden-Württemberg, of the Stuttgart city center. It is the district town and largest city of the district Ludwigsburg, as well as after Esslingen at the Neckar the second largest medium-sized town of Baden-Wuerttemberg.
Together with Kornwestheim, Ludwigsburg forms a central center for the surrounding municipalities. Since the 1 April 1956 Ludwigsburg is a large district town.
