October is the tenth month of the year with 31 days. From the Latin oct for "eight" (it was the eighth month of the year, before January and February were added).
October begins on the same day of week as January, except in leap years.
October's flower is the Calendula with its birthstone being the Opal. The meaning of the Opal is Hope.
