Rabbits are mammals of the order lagomorpha. They are found in many parts of the world. They live in families and eat vegetables.

A male rabbit is called a buck, and a female is called a doe. A baby rabbit is called a kit, which is short for kitten. Sometimes, children call a rabbit a bunny.

Some people have rabbits as pets, especially the cottontail rabbit. In many parts of the world, people eat them. Some of these areas include Scotland, Ireland, England and Australia where they are often considered to be pests. Most people really like them though.

Many rabbits love carrots and some people will give them carrots to eat, but the main part of a domestic rabbit's diet should be rabbit pellets, which you can purchase at any local pet store.

When a female rabbit is pregnant, it will take about 31 days for the kittens to be born. The mother will pull fur a couple of days before they are due to make a bed for the babies. Different breeds of rabbits will have a different amount of kittens in their litter. It can range from 1-15 kittens. The babies can be handled after they are born, but you have to be careful with them. In some instances the doe will eat the babies, but this is not because humans have touched them.. Some kittens could get damaged if the mother uses her teeth to pull them out if the kitten is too big to come out on its own.

Many people do not know about the show world or rabbits. There are rabbit breeders all around the world, breeding rabbits to show them in rabbit shows. At most local fairs in which there are animal shows (horse, chicken, swine, etc.), there are rabbit shows. Every breed has different characteristics which are looked for in a show, making every breed a different experience to raise.

A rabbit should never have hay or straw as a bedding as they will urinate on the hay and then eat the hay after. White shavings should be used for wooden floors. Wire floors are also used, and they are not harmful for the rabbit. They are self-cleaning; the feces falls through to the ground under the cage where it can there be shoveled up once a week. The wire does have to be cleaned once a month to ensure all harmful bacteria etc is gone. Some rabbits can be trained to use a litter tray, just like a cat. These rabbits will live happily inside with the family, but should be kept separated from other animals, such as hunting dogs like poodles, which are very likely to attack the rabbit.

Rabbits should be sheltered from all elements. They do not like wind. They can live in cold conditions, but they prefer to be kept inside a warm house or near a heater in a barn. In very hot weather, rabbits like to have a frozen water bottle in their cage to snuggle up next to and cool off. Two bucks cannot be housed together, because they will fight each other. Two does can be housed together, since they will not usually fight. A buck cannot be housed with newborn kittens, or he will eat them.

You can buy a pet rabbit for cheap or even for free. Show rabbits can range in price from zero to thousands or dollars. Most show rabbits you will see will be in the 50-200 dollar range.

Rabbits have very delicate heart, and can have heart attacks easily. Some breeders have reported rabbits dying from heart attacks when they smell a bear nearby. Rabbits can also break their backs very easily if they get excited or suddenly frightened.simple:Rabbit
