User talk:WODUP
From Simple English Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Hello, WODUP, and welcome to the Simple English Wikipedia! I hope you will be happy helping here. You should begin by reading these pages: Wikipedia:Useful, Help:Contents, Wikipedia:Policies and guidelines, and how to write Simple English articles. If you want some ideas of which pages to work on, read Wikipedia:Requested articles or the list of wanted pages.
Even though it is a good idea to research an article (like looking at the discussion page) before making large changes, please be bold and try! Any changes you make that are not perfect can be fixed later. We are also working most on core articles and the most common topics until this Wikipedia grows.
If you want to ask a question or talk with other members, you can visit our version of the "village pump" at Wikipedia:Simple talk. Administrators on Wikipedia can also help you with more difficult problems. You can also ask me for help. The best way to do that is to leave a message on my talk page. You should always sign your messages on Talk pages by typing "~~~~" (four tildes) at the end of your words.
Good luck and happy editing!--Sir James Paul 00:27, 18 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Andrew Dimakis
The problem with the article is that using rule A4 (not notable) is a judgement call and requires that everyone beleives it is not notable. It would also be questionable (but valid arguments could be made) to deleted it as G3 (vandalism). By using the RfD, once it is voted as delete, rule G4 (previously deleted) can be used without question to keep deleting it (or just salting the page). As I had already A4 deleted the article, I felt it better to let the author himself and the rest of the community make the arguments for the choice. -- Creol(talk) 22:01, 18 February 2007 (UTC)
[edit] vandalism tagging
On pages like the talk for Harmony, don't bother deleting the text if the only entry is a vandalism post. Its one thing if it were a vandalism of an existing page, that needs reverting, but if they just create a page to spam on it, tag it as a QD and ignore it. One of the admins will get to it soon enough (one could be watching as they made it and just was too busy to delete before you got to it, we are sneaky like that :) ). Blanking the page makes us have to take an extra step to see that it needs deleted where as a big delete tag on top of a page that says "OMG!!1!!! I RoXor!one!!" tends to end up with just a shake of the head and a delete. -- Creol(talk) 07:20, 20 February 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Vgood template
Because the vgood template is used on talk pages, only the talk page can get the category it gives. All the changes you tried were just changes to how the talk pages were being sorted. They couldnt change which page was showing up in the category, nor how the pages were named in the category. They could only change their sort patterns and while many of your changes did cause them to be sorted by their Main space titles, it would have had no bearing on what shows up in the category list since the pagename for ArticleX and Talk:ArticleX is Article X in both cases. If they were sorted without a sortkey, they would fall under T for talk, but with {{PAGENAME}} and many of the other magic words, they are identical. -- Creol(talk) 07:09, 22 February 2007 (UTC)
