- Bose researches, engineers, develops and manufactures audio equipment, including speakers, amplifiers, automotive sound systems, and recently, acoustic balancing headphones and digital technology speaker systems. The company was founded in 1964 by Dr. Amar G. Bose, a professor of electrical engineering at Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge. As of 2005, the company employed about 7,500 people worldwide (2,000 in Massachusetts) and had revenues of over $1.7 billion. Dr. Bose recently stepped down as CEO and currently holds the title of Chief Technologist.
The company alone spends at least $100 million in research and engineering year after year and deploys a 70,000 sq. ft. building in Framingham reserved for R, E, & D. In 2004, they purchased an additional site from HP in Stow, Massachusetts to house their growing automotive and marketing divisions.
Can you please cite your sources (i.e. where you got the idea that Bose stepped down as CEO and remained post as CTO) when you edit? I am not sure where you got the fact that Bose stepped down as CEO from. Also, I would also like to know where you got the event where Bose purchased a site that Hewlett Packard sold to Bose at.
