1673 Antonio Stradivarius
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The 1673 Antonio Stradivarius (also The 1673) is an antique cello fabricated in 1673 by Italian luthier Antonio Stradivari of Cremona (1644-1737). Recent owners of The 1673 have included the cellists Jacqueline du Pré (1945-1987), Lynn Harrell and Nina Kotova.
The 1673 Stradivarius cello was purchased by Lynn Harrell after the death of du Pré. Mr Harrell named the instrument the Jacqueline du Pré 1673 dedicated it to its previous owner.[1][dubious — see talk page] Lynn Harrell while visiting New York, managed to exit a taxi cab and forget his cello. Luckily the honest Cab Driver turned it in and it was returned to Lynn completely unscathed.[2]
