Richard Nixon was elected president in November of '68 but you have him acting as president in July.

There is a discussion on my talk page on page layout.
For most of the last three hundred years there is inconsistency and duplication between the year in topic paragraph, the "see also" box and what is on the year by topic pages. Prior to 1950 I am pretty convinced we can painlessly (except for sore fingers) delete all of the year in topic paragraphs and ensure that the material goes into a "see also" box, creating such a box where none exists. Post 1950, particularly from the "year in US television" link a lot of material has been added to this paragraph as highlights (sometimes making up most of the page content pointed at).
Personally I think we should still delete the paragraph, keep the box linking to the topic sites and move any particularly important parts of the year in topic paragraph to the main chronological list. This does involve undoing quite a bit of work which someone has done.
Therefore, unlike for prior to 1950 (where I've said no objection= I do it) for post 1950 I won't touch these pages unless a significant number of people agree with the change. (I am also unlikely to get the pre 1950 stuff done before summer unless the service speed improves dramatically).

[edit] Entries without supporting articles
One birth listing worries me: May 26 - Jeanette Jones, dominatrix and fetishist
This raises a red flag, for three reasons. First, there's no article on her (and I'm not going to try to Google-test someone named "Jones"). Second, there are very few dominatrices on Wikipedia, and Probably no one identified as a "fetishist." There aren't many plastic surgeons, either, but there's a difference which brings me to the third reason: if I had the mentality of a 12-year-old and wanted to embarrass someone, I may well say this sort of thing about her in a public place, while I wouldn't say "Jeanette Jones, plastic surgeon" I'm not saying this isn't legit, but it's suspicious enough to worry me. ♥ «Charles A. - I googled the people without supporting articles, and I removed Jones and another entry because they had no significant hits aside from wikipedia and its mirrors. I think it's probably a good policy to delete any entries on the year pages that are without supporting articles regardless of google hits; where would be a good place to discuss that? -- Ponder 20:01, 2004 Dec 3 (UTC)

Sorry to interupt, but I just noticed that there was no july 25. This was the day when Pope Paul VI Humanæ Vitæ was publish regarding his view on Contraception and Abortion. Is that relavent enough to go in to this article?...plus I don't even know where the referance is to this article (not good...). If you were to show me, then maybe I can help. I'm concerned about the NPOV comment "Many American Catholics ignore or defy it." following the note about Pope Paul VI's Humanæ Vitæ. This seems out of place here, so I'm going to remove it.Nlaporte 23:30, 1 March 2007 (UTC)
