The 1983 version of the Five Nations Championship was held over a two month period, from January 15 until March 19, 1983. It was contested by England, France, Ireland, Scotland, and Wales. For the seventeenth time, the championship was shared. France and Ireland finished level on points, and no tie-break proceedure existed before 1993. It was France's fifth shared title, and Ireland's eighth.
