[edit] Welcome

Hi There

Thanks for your contributions to Wikipedia. Please see Wikipedia:Welcome, newcomers for more information.

Please, when you are adding articles about a TV show, make sure that the article says very early on what TV show it is talking about. Otherwise people reading the article will have no idea what you are talking about.

Please stay around and provide more edits.

[edit] Test

Thanks for experimenting with Wikipedia. Your test worked, and has been removed or reverted. Please use the sandbox for any other tests you want to do. Take a look at the welcome page if you would like to learn more about contributing to our encyclopedia. Thanks. -- BCorr¤Брайен 18:11, Mar 24, 2004 (UTC)

Hello again -- I'm afraid I deleted one of your articles already -- I apologize for that -- I though it was someone just adding in nonsense. Please take the time to explain that these are characters in something (I'm not sure what) and to properly format them and wikify them. Please see Wikipedia:Welcome, newcomers for more information. -- BCorr¤Брайен 18:19, Mar 24, 2004 (UTC)

[edit] Charmed

I expanded your Alec article enuf it's fairly certain to survive VfD, and hopefully will avoid Cleanup, as well. I did so somewhat reluctantly, as I'm not sure minor characters of any series deserve their own articles, but as long as we have so many minor character and concept articles in the Pokemon, Lord of the Rings, anime, etc. subjects, it only seems fair.

On the other hand, what I do see as being of more value, is articles for each episode. That would cover the minor characters, in the context of other related information. See Babylon_5, Star Trek:Enterprise, Star Trek:The Next Generation, The_Simpsons_episode_list#The_Series for some examples on Wikipedia. Building episode articles would also avoids some other problems I'll mention later. Also, you might want to look at Wikipedia:WikiProject_Television for some ideas about what other TV-interested Wikipedians consider to be minimum information. The page recommends not describing the plots of all episodes, but I'm pretty sure they'd be against articles for every minor character, as well. However, I think there is enuf precedent, including the list above, that valid VfD support could be argued to keep episode articles. Also see [1] for some more guidelines, what people think is important (#1 is generally links), etc.

What I would recommend to keep your articles from repeatedly landing on VfD, is to, in a less public place (like your User page), work on two or three single-episode articles, fully fleshed out, with an obvious, standard format. Then add a link to the episode list to the main Charmed article, and link to the episodes you have ready. It would be ideal if the chosen episodes had some unique characteristic, like when the fourth sister was introduced to replace Doherty, or if they generated contoversy in the press, or even something as mundane as a specific episode targetted by a joke from someone like Jay Leno. There's a fair chance they might be posted on VfD, but if the precendents are cited, and it's pointed out that Charmed has lasted longer than Babylon 5, which has articles for every episode, even after surviving the departure of one of the original "big name" stars, etc. I think enuf people would vote to Keep, that there would be no "consensus to delete", and they would survive the VfD process. Once you've got that precendent set, it should be easy to avoid, or at least survive, any other VfD challenges. Also, once you've established the precendent, as long as you keep using the standard format, you could probably get by with starting new episode articles with fewer initial details (I don't mean you could get away with a virtually blank template, however).

I don't watch the show, although my roommate does, so I have at least some idea about it big picture-wise, so I couldn't really help much with the content. But if you are interested in trying to build some "model" articles for episodes, if you can do the initial data entry and formatting, I'd be willing to help you polish the formatting, linkage, organization, etc. to get them to the point where I'd be pretty confident they could survive on VfD. I don't really have more time to look at this tonite, but later I'll try and make a specific list what I think is good or bad about the examples I gave--some of the things I remember are: one infobox (Enterprise?) is too big, the Babylon plot synopses are way over-kill, one redundantly lists a year on each line in the List (years for each season are probably better), and at the other extreme one list give no year info whatsoever. (maybe build a prototype) PS If you made all your edits as a registered user, they'd get a LOT less scrutiny--every time a non-member hits Save, the edits are almost always checked by one or more Wikipedians immediately, to make sure they aren't vandalism. [edit] deleted "list of" articles

I have just deleted several articles you made called "list of (some type of magical) beings" because they didn't make any sense. Are they from a TV show? A book? a movie? a D&D game? your imagination? We can't just put down stuff that interests us without any explanation for readers - this is an encyclopedia for everybody, not just a discussion area for fans of some particular thing. So if you want to return them, please write an introduction saying where they are from, so the casual reader isn't confused ... also, please try to spell the titles of the articles correctly, without extra capital letters here and there. - DavidWBrooks 13:58, 1 Oct 2004 (UTC)

[edit] Your contributions to List of Charmed Good Beings

Hi,

I noticed that after your original article has been marked as a copyvio, you have started creating a Temp article that also seems to contain copyrighted material, although from a different source [2]. Copyright violations are no trivial matter; they can lead to serious legal problems for Wikipedia. I think I speak for all of us here when I say that we are glad to have you as a contributor and we appreciate the time and effort you put into your articles, but please consider writing some original stuff instead of copy/pasting copyrighted content from other websites. Sorry, these are the rules, and they are here for a reason - ignoring those rules might get you banned from editing.

Thanks, -- Ferkelparade π 17:49, 12 Oct 2004 (UTC)

Hi. You don;t have to link all workds (like the or to), but only the significant ones, and usually each word only once per article. No problem, i did the same when i frist started here. I reveted your linkification. Happy editing -- Chris 73 Talk 15:19, Oct 22, 2004 (UTC)
