The 2007 American Le Mans Series season is the 9th season for the IMSA American Le Mans Series. It is a series comprised of Le Mans prototypes and Grand Touring race cars divided into 4 classes: LMP1, LMP2, GT1, and GT2. It began March 17, 2007, and will end October 20, 2007 after 12 races.

Some events in the 2007 ALMS schedule will be run in conjunction with other series. The events at Long Beach, Reliant Park, and Road America will be run in conjunction with Champ Car while the events at St. Petersburg, Mid-Ohio, and Belle Isle will be run in conjunction with the Indy Racing League.
[edit] Ethanol
Announced on February 8, 2007, the American Le Mans Series has signed an agreement with the Ethanol Promotion and Information Council (EPIC) to run E10 ethanol-enriched fuel in all gasoline-powered entries. The fuel will be 10% ethanol, 90% gasoline. EPIC will also sponsor Rahal Letterman Racing's Porsche entry as part of the deal.[1] This is similar to Rahal Letterman's deal in the Indy Racing League.

For most races, points are awarded to the top 10 finishers in the following order:
- 20-16-13-10-8-6-4-3-2-1
For the four hour Monterey Sports Car Championships was scored in the following order:
- 23-19-16-13-11-9-7-6-5-4
And for the 12 Hours of Sebring and Petit Le Mans which award the top 10 finishers in the following order:
- 26-22-19-16-14-12-10-9-8-7
Cars failing to complete 70% of the winner's distance are not awarded points. Teams only score the points of their highest finishing entry in each race.

[edit] LMPs
- Cytosport has purchased Dyson Racing's former Lola B06/10s and plans to enter ALMS starting at Long Beach.
- Autocon Motorsports originally intended to buy a second MG-Lola EX257 (Lola B01/60) for use in 2007. However, after a lack of pace with their current car, the team will instead sell their current EX257 and buy a new car midway through the season[2]
- Czech team Charouz Racing System is believed to possibly contest Petit Le Mans and Laguna Seca with a Lola B07/10-Judd LMP1.
- CET Racing Solaroli Motorsport has purchased two Porsche RS Spyders with plans to enter the series with their first car at Lime Rock Park.

- LG Motorsports claim they will be modifying their Speed World Challenge Chevrolet Corvette Z06 for the GT2 class, with a second car possible later.
- James Watt Automotive plans to enter Petit Le Mans later in the season.
- David Richards of Prodrive has stated that discussions are underway to enter the Aston Martin Racing DBR9s later in the ALMS season.[3]
