Number of Caruso's siblings: Thanks for your message changing sibling number from 18 to 7 and for citing the Caruso and Farkas book. My source is Stanley Jackson's "Caruso" pub. 1972, p. 3. "She (negihborhood's busy midwife) had already delivered 17 of his brothers and sisters into an unwelcoming world, but each of the frail human parcels ahd succumbed in turn to the febbre Napolitana, some even before they were labeled in the church next door." You're right that 3 survived after Enrico. This is like a story problem. If Jackson gives an accurate report, then Enrico was the 18th born, the first to survive infancy. Then, as I recall from other sources, three more children were born (total 21). I don't know how many of those survived.
