"Projecto: 2501" is the collaborative album from Souls of Mischief / Hieroglyphics MC, Tajai and Philadelphia-based producer, SupremeEx. The conceptual album draws heavily on ideas from Serial Experiments Lain and Ghost in the Shell, in addition to the artists' own ideas about technology and its influence on life.
The album was recorded and arranged remotely over the Internet, with Tajai and SupremeEx exchanging files and communicating with each other from their respective coasts as early as 1999. The two artists were themselves pioneers of online music, with their collaborative enterprise Hieroglyphics.com between 1995-2001.

Synopsis:
"A burgeoning hologram finds himself discontented in "The Wired" world and frees himself of his confining circuit in an explosion of fury. Now capable to go wherever he so chooses, The Entity (Tajai of Souls of Mischief) embarks upon a journey to seek out the destruction of the human collective in PROJECTO : 2501."
As The Entity lifeform, Tajai chronicles his plight as a burgeoning hologram who must destroy life as a means of preserving it.
Two trading cards (out of a total set of 4) are included with every CD further chronicling the background history in this multimedia "storybook" concept EP.
Translation of the Japanese lyrics in "Contact" according to shing02.net:
"If existence itself is a part of fate,
Then is our music merely a faithful reproduction
Of a completed work from future dimensions...?
Indigestible information age melodrama,
the transparent majority will perish
Like nitrogen in the atmosphere,
and our hydrogen plus oxygen,
Also in imminent danger
Misled definition of culminating vocab on ethnic proportions
shapeless hope, strangely enough
Sonic recordings in coming years will be a memory of yester years
While repeating numerics punctuate time
After much anticipation, the ship takes off, never to return to earth
With contact lost and eternal darkness seeping into my bones
I found myself sending telegrams day and night but to no avail
A dead machine left me nothing
Too late to vent anger or to bring suit,
The only path left to fly is this narrow moment
A present that comes after future,
however the present is in the past
how ironic...
10-29..."
Guest artists Shing02, Low Budget (Hollertronix), Jay Biz (Hieroglyphics), DJ Nozawa & Major Terror also make appearances. Additional content is also included on the Enhanced CD including a bonus MP3, computer wallpaper, videos in the studio recording "Projecto" and more.
In 2005 the duo re-teamed and released a new full-length album entitled Nuntype on Rumble Pack Records.
