26 Commissars Memorial

The 26 Commissars Memorial, located in Baku, Azerbaijan, pays tribute to the 26 Baku Commissars from the Baku commune. These commissars were defeated in 1918 and later slain in Krasnovodsk (now Türkmenbaşy). The monument was designed by Alesker Huseynov, who went on to become a prominent politician in Azerbaijan.

The centre of this large square is a dramatic monument with a man coming out of the ground with a large stone circle hovering above it.
