5DX test
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
5DX test is also known as automated x-ray inspection. 5DX test is commonly done in manufacturing after a printed circuit board (PCB) along with the board components are assembled to each other. This test will analyze the assembled boards if there are solder problems including hidden solder-related problems, interconnect problems, and press-fit problems among others.
The 5DX automated x-ray inspection machine use 3D x-ray laminography which "sees" through obstructions on crowded printed circuit boards to catch up to 95% of all manufacturing defects. It catches defects and provides actionable information that can be used to repair boards faster and improve turn-on. Links to integrated quality software helps monitor defect trends so processes can be tuned and future defects can be avoided, further improving production yields and reducing repair costs. And with AXI, there are no test fixtures so production ramp is fast, and there are no limitations related to electrical or visual access.
