From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia. Wikipedia is not a mere directory of links nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include (but are not limited to) links to personal web sites, links to web sites with which you are affiliated, and links that exist to attract visitors to a web site or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam policies for further explanations of links that are considered appropriate. If you feel the link should be added to the article, then please discuss it on the article's talk page rather than re-adding it. See the welcome page to learn more about Wikipedia. Thank you. --jpgordon∇∆∇∆ 03:38, 7 December 2006 (UTC)
- Please stop adding inappropriate external links to Wikipedia. It is considered spamming, and Wikipedia is not a vehicle for advertising. Thanks. - Second warning! Calltech 21:59, 20 December 2006 (UTC)
- Please stop. If you continue spamming you will be blocked from editing. (Merchant account) Calltech 14:43, 25 January 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Chargeback links
Please check this article's history (Chargeback) and you will see that I did not remove your link nor add any other link to this article. You have me confused with some other user. I placed the warning message above because of the inappropriate link you added to Merchant account. Calltech 02:26, 22 January 2007 (UTC)
- It's surprising how such a great place like Wikipedia could have such issues like this. The link added as you stated spam was a valid link that represented the type of quality that Wikipedia looks for. What gives you the right to displace valid and otherwise relevant links that are in no way spam. I guess it takes all kinds.—The preceding unsigned comment was added by 68.195.32.161 (talk • contribs) 05:01, 22 January 2007 (UTC)
- I have to throw my two cents in here. If your source is so great that it should be plastered all over Wikipedia like so many posters for a play, why isn't it good enough for you yourself to actually write a paragraph or two to add to those articles and use your site as a reference rather than as a bare external link? Just putting up dozens and dozens of external links and basically telling the other editors, to pay for the content and write the additions to the articles themselves is, in my not so humble opinion, the height not only of arrogance, but also of laziness. Links are easy for us to get if we want them, all we need to do is go to Google or Dogpile or some other search engine. What Wikipedia really needs is editors who contribute actual content to the articles, and I'm sure we'd all welcome any of the contributions you can bring to this effort. So please do come join with us and write content for the articles. Thanks for taking the time to read this and have a great day!

- What gives me (and any other editor) the right are the WP:EL guidelines. Don't take it personally. If you think your links are valuable, put an entry in the article's Talk page and let another, unbiased editor add it. If others feel like you that it is a valuable resource, it can be added in that manner. Also, please sign your comments using four tildes (~). Calltech 13:39, 22 January 2007 (UTC)
