Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, as you did to Plano, Texas. Wikipedia is not a mere directory of links, nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include (but are not limited to) links to personal web sites, links to web sites with which you are affiliated, and links that attract visitors to a web site or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam policy for further explanations. Since Wikipedia uses tags, external links do not alter search engine rankings. If you feel the link should be added to the article, then please discuss it on the article's talk page before reinserting it. See the welcome page to learn more about Wikipedia. Thank you. --JFreeman (talk) 05:42, 24 February 2007 (UTC)
[edit] RE: Plano, Texas
You wrote on my talk page:
- I'm wondering why a link to a popular discussion board (PlanoOnline.com) for Plano, Texas residents would be banned, but a link to a popular Frisco, Texas discussion board (Frisco-Online.com) is allowed?
The link from Frisco, Texas is probably still there because nobody noticed it yet. If it has the same problems that the Plano link did (primarily the large amounts of advertising, but also the "blog" forum, and no real value added), the Frisco link should go also. You're welcome to make the deletion yourself. The Wikipedia external links policy can be found at WP:External links.
