A Mighty Heart
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
A Mighty Heart is a 2003 memoir written by Mariane Pearl, widow of slain American journalist Daniel Pearl. The book will be made into a movie, which is about to start filming. [1] Dan Futterman is playing Daniel Pearl, and Angelina Jolie will be playing Mariane Pearl, Daniel Pearl's wife.
The movie is set in Karachi, but shooting is currently in progress in Pune, India due to security concerns over shooting in Pakistan.
Shooting of the film has been marred by several alleged incidents involving Jolie's security detail and locals. In the first reported incident, an Associated Press photographer was assaulted by bodyguards and threatned with a gun. In the second, a security guard grabbed a photographer by the throat outside of the hotel where Jolie and acquaintance Brad Pitt were staying. The most recent incident occurred on November 16, 2006, at a school where bodyguards are accused of verbally abusing and assaulting parents who were picking up their children. Paparazzi were blamed for provoking the incident in an official statement by Dallington TV, the production company organizing the shoot. Jolie's bodyguards were subsequently arrested by police pending criminal charges. [2]
