A Thousand Acres is a 1997 film, based on the novel of the same title by American author Jane Smiley.

The story is a feminist reworking of Shakespeare's King Lear, set on a thousand acre farm in Iowa. Larry Cook is an aging farmer who decides to divide his farm among his three daughters, Ginny, Rose, and Caroline; hinging on past incest and abuse.
