The official academic dress for officers and members of the University of Warwick is as follows.

[edit] Gowns
- Bachelors will wear a black stuff gown with long pointed open sleeves.
- Masters will wear a black stuff or silk gown, the long closed sleeves to have inverted “T” slits for armholes and the bottom of the sleeves to have small cut-out portions front and back.
- PhD in undress will wear the Master’s gown.
- DClinPsych in full dress will wear a black gown of Cambridge doctors' shape, with scarlet and royal blue facings, and sleeves lined with royal blue, faced inside with scarlet, and gathered at the elbow with royal blue cord and buttons. (This degree is jointly conferred with Coventry University.)
- EdD in full dress will wear a gown similar to the Master’s but with green facings.
- EngD in full dress will wear a gown similar to the Master’s but with navy blue taffeta facings.
- MD in full dress will wear a gown similar to the Master’s but with scarlet taffeta.
- PhD in full dress will wear a gown similar to the Master’s but with red shot green taffeta facings.
- DLitt, DSc and LLD in undress will wear the Master’s gown.
- DLitt, DSc and LLD in full dress will wear a red gown of a special pattern with the facings and the bottom of the sleeves faced back with the Faculty colour.

- BEng Simple shape. In black corded rayon fully lined and bound on the cowl and neckband with light blue taffeta.

Warwick's regulations are imprecise about the exact shape of the hoods, however in practice, the "simple" shape used is the Oxford Burgon form (that is, without a cape, and the lining turned back around the edge of the cowl) and the "special" shape hoods are a modified Aberdeen pattern (that is, a cape with no liripipe and the lining flourished).
