Talk:Accuracy International AWM

This thing is actually banned by the Geneva Convention? I kind of doubt that. Maybe I'm mistaken, but this weapon's caliber doesn't seem all that out of proportion in comparison to what's currently in use in the field. Anyone ever fired this thing? Gibson Cowboy 02:56, 27 November 2005 (UTC)
Yes it's the dogs b****cks.
Nowhere in the first para (or anywhere) does it actually state that this is a rifle, sniper rifle or even a gun. It may seem obvious, but shouldn't that be there, rather than just jumping straight into "it's a varient of xxx"?--Gavinio 23:07, 25 January 2006 (UTC)
--172.136.103.24 13:24, 4 February 2006 (UTC) I think the rifle operators should be Great Britain, and Special Weapons And Tactics (SWAT), as there is proof of some SWAT sharpshooters armed with the Accuracy Internation AW .308 Magnum, with and without custom paint jobs.
Re: popular culture. The weapon in Counter-Strike actually has a 10-round magazine. Doesn't that make it the AWP, not the AWM? RSammy 01:26, 20 May 2006 (UTC)
–The weapon modelled in Counter-Strike is shown to fire the .338 lapua round of the AWM, not the 7.62mm round used by the AWP, although in the game itself it is incorrectly referred to as the AWP. Presumably there was just some confusion about the different models of the weapon when they were first implemented. Carcer 23:48, 13 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Popular culture
I have removed this section, because lists of trivia do not belong in wikipedia (See What Wikipedia is not— WP:NOT). Please feel free to add such information on the two pages List of firearms in video games and List of firearms in films. Deon Steyn 12:56, 1 August 2006 (UTC)
Erm, it doesn't say anything in WP:NOT about not listing trivia. OSm people may actually find it interesting to see it is listed in CS:S. Tom (N wales)
It is named the AWP to avoid copyright infringment, much like every other gun's actual name in the game. M4A1 is called a Maverick M4A1 and the AK-47 is called a CV-47.
