Talk:Achillius of Larissa
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
[edit] Fairly notable, if you ask me
I don't think that Achillius warrants deletion. There are literally hundreds, maybe thousands, of only semi-notable saints articles on Wikipedia, and I would maintain that this one has more potential than most. I'm going to try to add to the article enough to justify its inclusion. Alekjds TALK 20:32, 18 January 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks for expanding. I agree about the number of semi-notable and non-notable saints (many of whom are not longer observed by any major liturgical calendar). The expansion certainly addresses the concerns I had -- in fact, just a little bit more info and I would remove the stub tag if I were you. Pastordavid 21:26, 18 January 2007 (UTC)
No problem. I'm going to add an infobox and then unstub it.
I think the issue with some of these saints is that the most authoritative resources, such as Catholic Encyclopedia and online hagiographies like Catholic Forum and Catholic Online (although C. Online did include a profile for Achillius), is that they're very decidedly Roman. They may make passing references to Orthodox saints, but nothing as complete as the resources that exist for Western saints. I guess one could extrapolate that the underlying issue is the sheer organizational impact of having so many "Eastern Churches" as compared to the bureaucratized Western Church - that being irrelevant to the discussion, of course.
