[edit] Ordered to protective exile in 1944
"In 1944, because of his growing opposition of the Nazi regime, he was ordered to a "protective exile" at his summer residence" (edit by user:64.131.203.195) -- is there a source for this? There are two sources that state it was his own choice to go there in 1945: Bautz' Kirchenlexikon, and the site of the Catholic Visitator for Silesians in Germany [1]. Chl 14:09, 8 June 2006 (UTC)
Yes there is a source. It comes from a booklet published by Statni zamek Jansky Vrch, Javornik (Castle Johannesberg, Jauernig). This booklet was written by academics who document the castle's history, based on writtings availiable at the castle's library. It clearly states that Bertram was ordered to leave Breslau by Vatican in 1944, following the assasination attempt on Hitler. He announced that he will voluntary leave, so he did NOT flee, for the summer residence of the bishops of Breslau in Jauernig in the late 1944. - Also, if you have ever been in Jauernig, you would know that the Cardinal was buried at Ves Javornik cemetary. Ves Jauernig (Village Jauernig) is a separate part of the city, which was part of German Reich... Regards, Tom. User:bolekpolivka 14:09, 8 June 2006 (UTC)
