[edit] Sierra Leone Krio People
The Sierra Leone Krio people have historically regarded themselves as British, even though they live in Africa, and therefore could be said to be African British. They are generally the descendants of black people who lived in England in the 18th century and freed black slaves who fought for the Crown in the American revolutionary war. They were promised that they could live in freedom under the protection of the British Crown and the Royal Navy.
