Umh. Was the creation of the AfroPedia article the only thing you did? In that case, I would find the block rather exaggerated too. Please hold on a minute, I'll try to contact the blocking administrator. Fut.Perf. ☼ 15:40, 28 February 2007 (UTC)
- Okay, I think I can unblock you, but there's three things. First, the article you were trying to write, AfroPedia, probably doesn't stand much chance here - just because it's a wiki and a free project doesn't mean it fits our notability criteria (see WP:WEB). Second, if you are associated with that website, writing about yourself and your own organisation/site/company/whatever is generally frowned upon on Wikipedia (see WP:COI). Third, as as your username is the name of that site, you should consider changing it too, as we don't normally like to have people running around with names suggesting they represent some outside organisation (see WP:USERNAME). In all, you'll be more than welcome to continue contributing here, but preferably on some other topics first. Okay? Fut.Perf. ☼ 22:02, 28 February 2007 (UTC)
Yeah, the creation of AfroPedia article is the only thing that I did. I have not added any article before, you can check on that to confirm. It's strange why my account has been declared 'spam account' by the administrator who blocked me. On the second point; I'm not associated with the website afro-pedia.com, I only thought of adding it to wikipedia because I thought it's worth being included here. Why is it that wikis are prohibited to being added to wikipedia? I've reviewed your policies and have not come acroos that.
On the name; I have been trying to change the name as you suggest but I can't since I'm blocked!
- I've lifted the last remnants of your block now (there was an "autoblock" still around that I forgot to lift earlier, sorry about that), so you ought to be able now to use a new account. As for the wikis, I think maybe I didn't express that well: it's not the case that wikis are generally prohibited, it's just that they have to fulfil all the same criteria as all other websites. We do articles on websites only if they fulfil some pretty strict criteria of notability, as set out at WP:WEB.
- Hope everything is okay now, so, happy editing, and sorry for the confusion. Fut.Perf. ☼ 01:54, 1 March 2007 (UTC)
Thanks, I'll now create a new account.
