The Assembly of good Christians, also known in some places as the General Conference Cathar Church, is one of the oldest independent non-Roman Catholic Churches in continuous existence. With a tradition similar to, but preceding that of the Amish, Anabaptist, Mennonite and Quakers, we share with them in the tradition of the historic peace churches a path of absolute non resistance. The AGC promotes tolerance and mutual respect for all human peoples. Like the Amish, we do not own telephones, cars or use electricity in the older rural communities. A house-church movement, we are also one of the few religious bodies that does not accept tax exempt status, take collections or charge for any service or literature, nor do we prostelize or recruit individuals.
