Ahtirma
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
It is an ancient magic trick-"the prestige" or the final act of which defies all belief. It is supposedly a scary mind-reading trick-the word "ahtirma" in Kerala lingo means "pre-supposition of logic"-the form of art most commonly used in mind-reading practices. Here is one of the ahtirmas- 1)Choose any number.
2)Add the next number in sequence to it,e.g,if you chose 1,then add the next number in sequence(which will be 2 in this case)to it so the result becomes 1+2=3
3)Add 9 to the result.
4)Divide by 2.
5)Substract the number which you had originally thought(in step1) from the answer.
6)multiply by hundred.
Now the magician gives you the "prestige" or the "password" or the answer-fivehundred! the answer will always be fivehundred. From this step onwards the magician will ask the person to do whatsoever calculation the person chooses of his own free will and tell him what calculation he is doing, lets say the person says he wants to divide it by 5,little does the person know that the magician will also be doing the same thing in his mind as he has reached the common answer of fivehundred already! Now whenever the person chooses,he can ask the magician to tell him the answer which the magician gives easily and surprises everone.
