Air Buddies is the sixth film in the Air Bud series and the first in the spinoff series Air Buddies, which follows the life of a lonely teenager and his dog who has the uncanny ability to play every sport. The film was released on December 12, 2006. The film was rated PG by the MPAA for some mild rude humor.

Noah Framm's golden retrievers Buddy and Molly are kidnapped, so their five puppies (Rosebud, Bud-dha, Budderball, Mudbud, and B-Dawg; also known as the Air Buddies) must rescue them. In this movie, all the animals can talk. This is the first time this has ever happened in the Air Bud series.

- Patrick Cranshaw died on December 28, 2005, but he had already finished filming all of his scenes for the movie. Don Knotts died on February 24, 2006, but he finished all his voice work on this, his final film. The movie is dedicated to them both.
- One of the pups' names may or may not refer to the plot device in Citizen Kane, Rosebud.
