[edit] Airport Infobox
{{Airport infobox}}
This infobox is used to summarize an airports's key points.
[edit] Usage
Only {{Airport frame}} and {{End frame}} are required. All other templated sections are optional, though some have guidelines you should follow to achieve the best, most consistent appearance.
{{Airport frame}} {{Airport title|name= |nativename= |nativename-a= |nativename-r= }} {{Airport image|airport_image= }} {{Airport infobox | IATA = | ICAO = | type = | run by = | closest town = | elevation_ft = | elevation_m = | coordinates = {{coor dms|dd|mm|ss|N|dd|mm|ss|W|type:airport}} | website = }} {{Runway title}} {{Runway | runway_angle = | runway_length_f = | runway_length_m = | runway_surface = }} {{End frame}} |
{{Airport title}}:
- For airports with Western characters only (English, French, German, Spanish, etc.):
- name - English name of the airport
- nativename - (optional) the native name of the airport if using Western characters; can also be used for two different names in the same language (see Toronto Pearson International Airport)
- For airports with native names using other characters (Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Arabic, etc.):
- name - English name of the airport
- nativename-a - the native name of the airport with non-Western characters
- nativename-r - (optional) the Romanized native name of the airport
{{Airport image}}: A link to a photograph of the airport, or an image of the airport logo. This field is optional and should be commented out if no image is available: <!--{{Airport image|airport_image= }}-->
- airport_image - name of image file, i.e. test.png
- width - (optional) the image width in pixels, i.e. 175 (defaults to 200 if not specified). This parameter should only be used for small images that appear distorted when expanded to a width of 200 pixels.
{{Airport image|airport_image=LargeImage.gif}}
{{Airport image|airport_image=SmallImage.png|width=175}}
{{Airport infobox}}:
- IATA - The three character IATA airport code for the airport.
- ICAO - The four character ICAO airport code for the airport.
- type: One of "Public", "Private" or "Military". Not "Commercial", "General" or "Civil"!
- run by: Name of airport operator. This is not automatically turned into a link - in most cases the operator is not noteworthy enough for an article.
- closest town: Name of the town or city the airport serves. In many cases an airport is associated with a major city but actually is closer to a smaller town, in this case list the major city. This field is automatically surrounded by square brackets, making it into a link.
- elevation_ft: Height above mean sea level, in feet.
- elevation_m: Height above mean sea level, in metres.
- coordinates: Latitude and Longitude of airport, specified using the {{coor dms}} template. When entering the coordinates always ensure that the resultant map or image shows the airport. It is very easy to confuse "N" for "S" or "E" for "W."
- website: External link to the airport's official website. See Wikipedia:External_links#How_to_link for more info.
{{Runway title}}: This title goes above the runway section.
{{Runway}}: This template is used for each runway at the airport.
- runway_angle: The designation of the runway, normally two numbers like this → 02/20, 1st number is 18 lower than the 2nd. Where there are parallel runways an additional letter is added to each number, for example "L" for left, "R" for right and "C" for center. In certain cases a runway will only have one number when it can only be used in one direction. For airports in the United States the leading zero is not used and the designation should read 2/20.
- runway_length_f: Length in feet.
- runway_length_m: Length in metres.
- runway_surface: Surface type, for example "Paved", "Concrete", "Asphalt", "Grass", ...
{{Helipad title}}: This optional title should follow the list of runways and precede the list of helipads, if any. Use the {{Runway}} template to provide data for each helipad
Here is an example, from Los Angeles International Airport, of how the infobox should be completed:
